Our History The SERV story began in 1998 when a group of men, led by Steve Kasha, traveled to Sabinas Hidalgo, Mexico as part of a church construction project. A second team followed a year later to help build another church in Apodaca, Mexico. By the spring of 2000, the men were looking for a greater adventure and an opportunity to serve God outside Mexico. Eighteen men were commissioned to carry God's Word to a remote village in Venezuela. During that trip, God gave Steve Kasha the vision for what would become SERV Ministries International. After a season of wrestling with God, Steve officially incorporated SERV Ministries International. Since that time, SERV has built several churches, an outreach center (Pan de Vida) , a fellowship hall and a dormitory for a children’s home. SERV has carried out many tent projects (medical/dental/vision/food outreach) in Mexico, three in the U.S. and one in the Dominican Republic. In 2005, SERV Ministries was called to offer disaster relief to the victims of Hurricane Katrina. Emergency supplies were collected and transported and over 100 volunteers traveled to Mississippi to offer recovery assistance. In 2006, SERV was invited to visit Kenya. Within a year, we were laying the groundwork for a large-scale feeding program. In 2008, SERV received a grant from USAID that allowed us to provide 5 containers of food (5 million meals) to the hungry people of Kenya. In addition to the feeding program, God directed us to open an orphanage in Lodwar, Kenya. In August 2008, House of Hope was dedicated and two months later, 15 children had a safe, Christ-centered place to call home. Today it is home to 20. Our Vision The vision of SERV Ministries is to "serve God by serving others." Whether we are building a church, feeding children or sharing the Word of God, our prayer is that we will faithfully serve as God directs. Our Beliefs We believe that the Bible is the true, inspired Word of God. We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. We believe that all Christians are called to share the Good news of Jesus Christ. We believe we are called to offer care and mercy to those in need. Our Mission Our mission is founded on Matthew 20:28, "Just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many."
